In the heart of the Costa Brava, bathed by the sea breeze of Llafranc Bay, stands an establishment that is much more than a hotel; it is an authentic symbol. Since the Bisbe family inaugurated it in 1956, Hotel Llafranch has maintained a singular character and a genuinely Empordà spirit, becoming a place of pilgrimage for figures of art and glamour from all over the world.

A Legacy of Glamour and Legendary Anecdotes

The personality of the first generation, with the brothers Manel, Josep, and Mario Bisbe at the helm, gave the establishment an unmatched fame. Each of them contributed a key piece: Josep, the management; Mario, the technical part; and Manel, an artistic air and an extravagance that made him a celebrity in his own right. Known as "the Gypsy of the Costa Brava", a nickname given to him by the legendary Carmen Amaya, Manel turned the hotel's nights into a continuous spectacle, attracting a constellation of celebrities.

The anecdotes still echo through the restaurant's walls. It is said that waiters served "pigs' feet" to the actor Kirk Douglas, while dozens of fans of Rock Hudson begged to work just one night to serve the Hollywood heartthrob. The list of illustrious names who passed through here is inexhaustible: from Salvador Dalí, who was a regular visitor, to Sofia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Paco de Lucía, Xavier Cugat, and Joan Manuel Serrat.

The Cuisine: A Story of Product and Tradition

The cuisine of the Llafranc Restaurant is a pillar of this history, a tribute to tradition that remains alive thanks to the efforts of three generations. The dedication of Adela in the kitchen for decades gave life to traditional dishes and homemade desserts that marked the character of the place. Today, the menu focuses on a product of excellence with the distinctiveness of the Costa Brava. The restaurant holds the Palamós Prawn certification, a star product of their cuisine. Furthermore, they continue the tradition of personally choosing the best fresh fish from the market in Palamós, complementing it with a careful selection of seasonal and local products.

The black rice, for example, remains faithful to Josep Bisbe's ancestral recipe, prepared without squid ink, a distinctive trait that enriches its flavor and tradition. The classic "suquet de peix" and other sailor stews that dignify the cuisine of the sea are also not to be missed.

A Legacy that Reinvented Itself

Despite the evolution of tourism and renovations, Hotel Llafranch has managed to keep its family soul and unique character intact. The new generation, now led by Joan Carles Bisbe, has taken up the artistic baton from his uncle Manel, reinventing the nightlife with his well-known "Cocktail Rambo" shows. This modern and cosmopolitan touch, combined with its unmatched location in "l'Empordanet," continues to captivate those who seek an authentic experience beyond the ordinary.

60 years of history support a service philosophy where professionalism and human warmth go hand in hand. Welcome to your new home in the heart of the Costa Brava.
