The Hostal La Llagosta was founded in 1946 by the Plà family from Calella de Palafrugell, who were dedicated to fishing with "parejas" (traditional sailboats). The premises they occupied in Llafranc, where the Hostal was later built, had been an old anchovy shipowner and salting facility belonging to the Plà family.
Located on the seafront, right on the bay of Llafranc, the Hostal offers privileged views that allow you to enjoy a unique and unparalleled setting.
In 1955, the current owner, Mrs. Mª Rosa Tarragó Daussà, joined the family business. Since then, thanks to her dedication and constant work, the Hostal began attracting a large number of high-end tourists, particularly from the UK and Germany, coinciding with the start of the "Tourism Boom" on the Costa Brava in the 1950s.
Over the years, Hostal La Llagosta has hosted numerous personalities, such as Kubala, Liz Taylor, Eddie Fisher, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Xavier Cugat.
Their seasonal seafood cuisine is one of their great specialties, featuring dishes like rice dishes, fresh fish from the Palamós fish market, beef from Girona, Pals rice, Empordà wines, stews from Ullastret, and Fonteta milk. They also have their own garden, which provides them with high-quality organic products.
Among the most notable dishes, you'll find grilled artichoke flowers with foie, sautéed red shrimp, seafood noodles, tagliatelle, Cala Estrecha rice with sea goat, skillets, and grilled Girona meats.
